NYTimes – Unlocking the Secrets of the Microbiome

I was just reading a nice article in the New York Times about current studies of the human micro biome. Most people don’t realize that we humans are more “bug” than human. We have a host of organisms throughout our body that assist us in surviving and thriving. A healthy person is only balanced when all the different organisms live and work well with one another. Modern medicine often completely disregards this natural equilibrium based upon symbiosis. New and more modern techniques are being discovered that analyze your natural flora compared to another’s flora and cultivate those organisms in sick bodies to restore them to health.

The body was intended to heal itself. Consistent healthy living will most often cultivate an amazing equilibrium. Fad diets disrupt the natural balance. If we learn to eat and move right, we will most-likely live longer. And more importantly we will thrive instead of merely survive.
